Computer simulation is a powerful technique for designing, optimizing and analyzing processes in air-conditioning and refrigerating systems. In order to use this tool special software, which enables calculating thermophysical properties of working fluids, is required. To solve simulating problems without resorting to third party programmers it is useful to have ready-made templates, which can be adjusted to a wide range of modeling tasks.
The software has to be installed on a computer and needs to be updated periodically. These programs, in particular those for calculating thermophysical properties of refrigerants, are constantly improved. This is mainly due to the fact that new working fluids and formulas emerge. Changes in the hardware and operating system software take place too. The ordinary user often fails to update the software and works with outdated versions. Also, users will face additional difficulties if they change their computer and/or operating system: old computer programs cannot be installed and started any longer.
In view of what is said above and taking into account that now almost all computers, on which engineering simulations are carried out, have a constant high speed connection to the internet, a new technology for “cloud” computing air-conditioning and refrigerating systems is proposed. The technology was developed by specialists of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) with participation of other organizations and has been successfully tested on the Internet server located at www.vpu.ru/mas.
The calculation server proposes three options of computer simulation of air-conditioning and refrigerating systems: online calculation, download and reference.
Online resources give a possibility to do “cloud” simulations in an interactive mode with the possibility for each user to enter his own input data. Downloading enables functions on thermophysical properties of refrigerants and ready-made templates for calculations on the own computer, even without an internet connection. The reference procedure gives a possibility to do a reference to the functions on thermophysical properties or templates stored on the Internet server or in “clouds” for developing further simulations of air-conditioning and refrigerating systems.
